Lorna, that's good to know that your horses liked them. If I come across some I may give them a try. So far Alley is refusing beet pulp and Beet-e-Bites (apple and licorice flavor), and is unsure

Re: LMF Low NSC feeds
Hi Annette,
I'm surprised about horses not liking them.
I've only had experience with 10 or so horses, but they all have loved them.
And my dogs.
And my cats.

" Have you sourced soy hull pellets ?"
Lorna, Thanks for the suggestion. I have not seen them available locally, and I understand that they are not that palatable to horses so I am guessing they will

Increase Prascend?
With the seasonal rise I was wondering if I should increase Stormy''s meds. All is well with him, but his neck is getting a little crusty and he seems to be more hungry lately. Due to my work

Re: LMF Low NSC feeds
Hi, Annette - that is a good question! The crude protein in the product is only 10%, so there can't be buckets of alfalfa meal in there. Small amounts of the feed should be okay; once you start her on

Re: help with Pipo - miniature pony - more blood test results arrived - higher insulin + high triglycerides
Hi, Anat, and sorry for the delay in responding!
1) Yes, the pain could cause elevated insulin, but the elevated insulin can also cause more pain, so it is a bit of a vicious circle.

Dr Kellon, is this with confirmed PPID mares or those who are not certain PPID but are trialling pergolide--and are possibly not PPID? Is it just when starting or could it appear if the pergolide dose

Re: Diabetic horse? Confused by lab work
For starters, see if you can source soyhull pellets instead of soy for your protein supplement. Use as much as you need combined with hay and beet pulp (well rinsed and soaked) to get protein up where
