A powder will be finer and can be used more sparingly, whether you grind yourself or you buy already ground. Not recommending Starwest per se, just an example. No way to know, from me anyway, how the

Schimpe is an 11 YO Warmblood, so not genetically predisposed to EMS although her exact breeding could make a difference. Any trace of an EMS prone breed in her bloodlines could make her susceptible.

Horses tolerate rather low glucose levels. However, glucose is also very often falsely lowered by delays in separating blood from serum or plasma, and failure to keep the serum or plasma cooled

Try 1 cup dry measure of beet pulp, and rinse-soak-rinse.
You can also try soy hull pellets to see if she likes them. They just need a 20 min soak and no rinsing. They make more of a mushy base.
