Based on the experience of our group members (plus the stability testing that Nancy mentioned already) what BI really has going for it is very good marketing to vets and a lot of fear mongering as far

More Metformin Questions - talked with compounding pharmacist
Salsa has been on metformin tablets for almost three weeks now and is getting increasingly harder to syringe them into.
The metformin IS helping him with his sore feet and lab tests show insulin

Re: Triple Crown Safe Starch NSC 9.9%
I did personally buy a bag that had small handful sized wads of molasses throughout. It was in the other bags on the pallet and the feed store sent the whole load back.

Thank you for the feedback Kristen!! You don't know how much I appreciate it.
For now I will go with option number one. I have been trying hard to increase her exercise. I know I won't be able to

Used Cloud Boots
I have a used pair of Cloud boots, size 3. They’re too big for my horse. They are used but still have some life left in them. If you’d like to “use them up”, I’d be glad to send them to

Re: Seasonal Rise and Pergolide
Hi Reta,
Both of those upper numbers you are referencing are for normal horses. For PPID horses we want to keep their ACTH level in the upper teens/low 20s (in pg/ml terms) year round. 8.9pmol/L

Re: Update on Apollo - One year since onset of laminitis.
Hi, Karen.
No one has reported a metformin veil here. I agree that having his mouth examined and his teeth checked would be a good idea -- and sooner than later. You got a good reduction in insulin

Pabatsa becoming arthritic advice on supplements
Hi Dr. Kellon,
I'm interested in your suggestion of Uckele Hylarin-b powder. Would it be beneficial also in an arthritic neck--C 3-4, 5-6? I've been giving him, per your advice awhile ago, Uckele

Tax on pergolide
I've never been charged tax on compounded pergolide until this week with Mixlab/NewYork. Does anyone know if you get it from their California branch do they charge tax as well?
Is that legal

Re: Stubby and pergolide information from vet
Hi Tony
So glad to hear the news about Stubby. It sure makes all the hard work worthwhile. Congrats.
Back in 2017 we tested 30 pergolide caps for stability. Ten members donated the five caps needed.

Re: Interpret Hay Analysis + Switch Diet
They told me he usually eats about 12lbs and some days he leaves some and doesn't eat it all, but I can certainly ask them to offer a little more. They also offer it in a net from when they soak it.
