There are olfactory cues to making them eat as well as taste. If the hay smells fresh and new, they'll eat it.

Hi Angela. Gracie should receive her metformin as usual in the stabul 1 as long as she is done eating it 4 hours before her 12 noon test....if the vet is late thats ok too....Keep hay in front of her

I soak 1/2 lb of TC timothy pellets and mix the metformin powder into it. My mare wont touch any "grain" anymore.
I have to put it in a bit of soaked cubes that is separate from the cubes I put

I think the orchard-brome might be a better choice due to the safer protein level. ESC+starch are nice and low, and it will be a bit easier to balance with the lower iron.

I would describe Baron as "very sensitive" now that you have bloodwork posted. A 3 year old with an insulin of 88 uIU/mL is very unusual. Normally problems don't occur until maturity after

I don't see any real difference that might explain why one is more appealing than the other. I read about a study once where 6 or 7 different hays were fed to see which ones the horses preferred. The

Stacey, you can add the ESC and the starch value of each together and hope that it’s less than 10%, which is the cutoff we find appropriate for soaking or not. Your first two hays are very close to
