You say
-- There are several safe commercial supplements that are better than most for horses with IR.
Could you please send links to those? Would be interested to hear best way to reduce insulin.

I just want to emphasize the only issue you have mentioned that sounds like it might be IR is a crest. Could you post a photo? Nothing else is IR related.

Oh yes! We're definitely treating the thrush and her poor non-existent frogs... that's gotta be what's making her the most sore. After some brainstorming we decided to get some padding from Lowe's..

Re: Too many supplements
Kathleen, we get our hay every few weeks and it changes supplier frequently so it isn't possible for a hay analysis each time.
Thank you,

We get our hay every couple of weeks and it changes supplier as well, so getting it continually analyzed is not feasible. It is always orchard as that is what my mare will tolerate.
Thank you Jaini.

Hi Cheryl,
I'm assuming you're aggressively treating the thrush? Those frogs are badly atrophied and not functional (unless Sahara is on very deep sand/pea gravel/shavings/loose dirt). I can see

Here's the scoop! Drop the Kombat Boots, the Glycocemic EQ, and the Bioflax. There is nothing in these that you need, or that can't be replaced more economically.

Nitrates & thyroid
if my hay was high in nitrates would this affect Abe's thyroid, thus affecting his insulin? Is this why the vet prescribed Thyrol l? After his blood work came back high?

Are you looking at the correct pics? The ones after the trim are dated 12-26. I'm curious because I don't see how we could take off more toe at this time.. not without getting

Hi Ashley,
I'm going to chime in with Lorna here, "What do you mean when you say the ER diet?"
Assuming that you're feeding hay, it would be beneficial to have an analysis of that hay. Specifically,
