Hi Jessica,
I'm going to assume the trim was done after the most recent rads - please let me know if that isn't correct.

Don't give Phyto-Quench with NSAIDs, unless you're on a taper, but otherwise it's OK.

Re: New to the group, new to laminitis
I'm not sure what the black material is. Possibilities are ichthammol or pine tar. Neither of them will seal off the sole to the point it couldn't drain but you won't be able to see any drainage.

Thats disappointing; I thought the recent x-rays looked significantly better as well as her hooves so what are you seeing that makes you feel it is not much improved that I am missing?
she was weaned

Hi Jessica,
If you look at your photo album and the markups that Lavinia did in August you'll see that there's been not a whole lot of change in the trim as yet and this can still be causing Khan to

Re: New to the group, new to laminitis
Thank you Dr. Kellon, I think you answered the question I didn’t know I was asking but it would make much more sense if he is still working out an abscess with how lame he is.
The vet he saw in

I should mention though that I do buy it in bulk from Amazon, the capsules were just to get me through until my order came in.

My vet wants to put Khan on 21 days of Equioxx, and 7 days of Tylenol to help with pain. I know ECIR does not agree with continued use of NSAIDs but Khan is still in pain. How do I push back on my vet

That makes sense. I know from experience there’s a tendency to estimate. Could you bag up her hay in advance for her? Especially because she really does need more at this point.

I gave my mare 15g of extra DC in addition to the PQ, Dr. K said you can safely double or triple that. The capsules I got have 480 mg so you would need 31 of these to equal 15,000

Possibly. When I weigh the hay I do so in addition to the empty net weight so really should be 13-14 pounds on the scale. I worry it’s more likely some of the barn staff weighs to ten pounds not

Hi Linda,
It’s my understanding that Pergolide doesn’t have much effect on hair coat, or at least not as much as we’d like. You could try cutting back to see what happens. Whether you cut back
