Yes, her trim is being addressed. I did not know about this list for picky eaters though, so thank you for sending the link.

Re: How long can Devils Claw be used
Unlike NSAIDs there's no time limit on how long you can keep a horse on Devil's Claw.

Re: Question on hay analysis
Sue, you said you use the first column and I replied that I use that one as well. I just added the part on starch so others would not be confused if they read your mention of “ESC + sugar”.

Re: Question on hay analysis
Sue, the way you feed hay is the same as "As Sampled," meaning "as is." That's how we feed our horses, so that is the result we use.
The difference between "As Sampled" and "Dry Matter" isn't a matter

Start with less than a full dose. Feed before you give hay, when your horse is hungry. Mix it with your horse's favorite taste-tempting ingredients. From the Files, the Picky Easters Checklist.

Re: URGENT HELP NEEDED WITH DIET
Hi Sharon,
That's nothing new as far as EA pushing NIR over wet chem. You do need to bear in mind that if you have a non-IR horse the 30% difference we've seen in some tests may not be a big deal.

We always look at the 'as sampled' column, not the dry matter.

Re: URGENT HELP NEEDED WITH DIET NOW: NIR/Wet Chem
Over the years we've had members test side-by-side NIR and Wet Chem and found up to 30% difference in results.
I just did the same with my current crop. The NIR ESC result was 26% less than Wet

Hi Nancy!
A very friendly lady at Equine Analytic labs just told me their lab person is writing a scientific article (sorry not sure of the exact wording) about how NIR has usually so similar results

Thanks, Sherry -- I was referring to those feeds on the "safe feeds" list, (such as TC Timothy Balance Cubes and Nuzu Stabul1), and which values should we be looking at: "As Sampled" or "Dry
