When was the last time you had his ACTH tested? And what was it? Some of those symptoms sound like it might not be controlled.

Hi Julie,
So sorry your daughter is having such a difficult time. Healing thoughts to all of you.
Just got back home - I'll try to do a couple of mark-ups for you before the AM.

Hi Corrine -
Here's another idea - very simple and inexpensive. I gently wash the affected area with a dilute Betadine solution - let it sit for a minute or so, rinse it off with plain water and

Re: Scratches getting worse.
Hi Corrine,
I'm new here and wanted to share what worked for me when my mare had scratches about four or five years ago. It's an ointment called Young Living Animal Scents, made from essential oils.

Hi
I really hope it helps and gives Jasper some relief. I forgot to mention that it’s worth washing any brushes etc that you’ve been using on him since the problem started with something

Re: tums??
Speaking of sugar free things, are any artificial sweeteners toxic to horses, like xylitol is to dogs?

Re: Rained on hay....worth testing?
Totally agree with Susan, Kerry.
As long as the hay was put up properly after being rained on - i.e. allowed to dry thoroughly before being baled - then you could be looking at a veritable "gold mine"

Re: tums??
In the ulcer file, the use of Tums is discussed. I can't find any that are sugar-free -- are regular tums approved for an IR horse?
