I've had to treat my mule twice for Lyme. I found a very good vet who was willing to put in and IV port so I could give the tetracycline daily on my own. There was no problem with the port.

Oh sorry Drkellon forgot to mention if my theory is incorrect, then can you hazard me a theory? She became a different horse last winter but by the time she was tested in Nov she was her normal self

Fat pads under the tail?
I noticed 2 large lumps under Ginger's tail a few weeks ago when she was lying down a lot. They are soft and do not appear to hurt her on pushing them. They are still there today.
