Re: Soft Ride boots
I just had my mare in the Soft Ride boots for 3 weeks. They were a lifesaver!! They are expensive, but getting my mare through the period when she could not have shoes put on was worth every penny.

Question about safety: are we supposed to wear gloves when opening the capsules. I've done that when upping a dose to get the .25mg without ordering 30 of them. But I never wear gloves.

Hi Lj,
The patented Prascend is available for about $52-$60 per month at 1mg per day. Need to purchase several months at a time for that price, however. Can check this

Hi ladies,
I'm a bit late in getting Monty titrated up to his 2mg dose of Pergolide after spending last month away dealing with a family issue. But I'm back and have moved Monty to his new winter

She's been doing well on a rounded 1 mg scoop, which I'm assuming contains more than 1 mg of pergolide.

Cheri - PS...some members have actually cut the frog support off the pad b/c it was hitting the horse in the wrong place and making them uncomfortable.
Each horse is different and it takes some

Maybe that insert is new, I'm not sure because I am just having them for the first time.
One thing I found out, don't use the website sizing chart as it is not correct any longer but is still on

Hi Cheri -
I had these boots for my horse after she foundered - but I found a level pad was best because that kept the coffin bone more ground parallel. They worked very well. I am not familiar

Soft Ride boots
My new veterinarian has recommended I get my laminitic horse some Soft Ride boots with the laminitic insert. Anyone have any experiences with these boots? They are $195.00 for the boots that come

Now I'm answering myself.
>If you feed 2 x 1mg ( not gram) capsules, you would open both of those and syringe them in.
When I had to open capsules,I used to fold a stiff memo card in half and dump

Hi Erin,
I am assuming the capsules are 1mg, not 1g - correct? They are quite small.
Just open one and pour it into the syringe. You only need a small bit of water as the powder dissolves almost

Thanks Nancy & Lorna,
Should I round up dosage if I mix it in water to syringe feed?

Pergolide/Prascend/Permax in New Zealand
Hi, team - I am posting this in advance for a friend from New Zealand who has just joined. She sent me an email saying that the medication to control PPID/Cushings was not available in New Zealand.

My hair was on fire by the time I got to this part ( red colour is mine):
"The feed should be low in sugar if the horse has signs of Cushing’s syndrome with altered insulin levels or diabetes.
