Topical vs internal dosages for horses- Dr. K
I was reading in another thread that horse dosing is 4-6 times more than human dosing. Would this also apply to topical applications of Lidocaine patches or Voltaren Gel?

The best thing you can do for him is a thorough lameness exam to find out what's going on and what the treatment options are. NSAIDs don't treat anything.

Hi Bonnie,
It's a NSAID so basically the same effect as Bute. You may want to add support wraps for him as well if he'll let you. Do both back legs.

The vet is sending Previcox, to be given the day before the appointment. I have never used it so will research the files here.

Linda, I've read that somewhere re: causing gas but I have always given my horses the trimmings off those vegetables but in very small amounts at one time.

I wouldn't count on it reducing release of sugar from starch. Which study? If it was human, use 4X the dose for a horse.
