That small amount won't have any effect on fermentation, but not all horses like yeast and a fair number are very sensitive to it - with gas/bloating.

I ran this by our resident nutritional guru, Patti Kuvik. She seriously doubted using a 1/2" - 1" piece of carrot to stuff a pill into would cause a problem for IR horses as a rule. Of course
