ThrivingPetsIanHi, Judy. Thank you for taking the time to let us know of your questions and concerns about the future of ThrivingPets. The business is relocating from Colorado to Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, do to delays in construction the new space will not be completed and inspected by the Board of Pharmacy prior to the expiration of our lease and move date from Colorado- October 31, 2016. We are doing everything we can to minimize the down time but contractors and the government aren't known for their timeliness. As a result, we anticipate that we will unable to fulfill prescriptions for the months of November and December. We hope to be able to fulfill prescriptions as of January 1, 2017. In the meantime, we are encouraging our clients to stock up on prescription medications before October 31, 2016.Thank you,

My experience was just the opposite. Even at double strength and (at the time) $1000 a month Lamina Saver did not work as well as jiaogulan.

Can you confirm expiration dates on you container? I understand you may have thrown old ones away. Perhaps recording going forward?
Thanks.

>>Jiaogulan herb is good, and I found that LaminaSaver is even better (even though jiaogulan is likely the most potent ingredient)
Can you help us here,Shannon,by giving details on your experience? How long did you use each product, for example? Was Jiaogulan used as directed? What other,if any ,changes did you make when changing to LS ? What clinical signs changed with LS,and how long before you noticed these?
LS is hugely expensive. As an experienced PPID/IR care giver, I can't stress how important it is to watch every penny, as long as it isn't at the expense of the pony.
Jiaogulan used as directed, with all other protocols are in place, would be a good place to start.

>>they toss the capsules they have in stock if it goes past expiration of the pergolide they used
What is their expiration date for, say, a batch of 10mg capsules made on Sept 15th , do you know?

That is rather discouraging research about pergolide efficacy over time. But, what is one to do? I suppose Prascend is more stable, but I cannot afford 4 mg of that a day. I had better stick to ordering 30 compounded capsules at a time after this.

Tina,
Could you just get a paper script from your vet, and then transmit it yourself to each of the pharmacies? Then you could do the legwork!
I am not familiar with all of the pharmacies listed but have found both Wedgewood and VPA to be reasonable in the past. Have you investigated Roadrunner (AZ)? Not sure about their pricing but they are a very large veterinary compounding pharmacy.
Someone just posted a great checklist when shopping for a new compounding pharmacy -- I am going to make a copy of it for future use! I know that those on high doses must be very careful with their $$, but at the same time, it is essential to insure we are using reputable pharmacies with good track records to avoid problems with product potency.

RE-writing some things, so went to double check on the link I just sent. Here's quote:
If one can disregard this concern, the products appearing to be the most stable are the solid materials (powders and capsules). Only 3 of 14 (21%) of the liquid products were above the required potency after 15 days, and all products were subpotent by 30 days. Conversely, the solid products showed better stability, with five of seven products that started at acceptable potency still at 90% after 30 days (the other two products were only slightly below the required potency).

Research that is basis of our recommendation showed 90 percent efficacy at 30 days for capsules.
