Spirulina and iron
Hello I'm new to this forum and have a question about spirulina. It's good for horses with EMS/IR/Laminitis? Iron is not? But isn't there a lot of iron in spirulina? I find that a bit confusing. Ditte

Spirulina and iron
Thanks. I'm a bit confused about the dosage. I've seen 1*40g or 2*20g recommended in here. Is dosage the same for use for IR/EMS/laminitis and for allergies? 40g/ 4 spoons seem like a lot compared to

Orbital fat EMS or PPID?
Sorry I haven't made a case history yet. I am working on it, but I'm not very good with computers. I'm pretty sure my horse is IR and has had EMS pretty much since birth. She is now 14 and I've notice

Any issues reported with Spirulina?
The price sounds very reasonable to me! What I can find here in Denmark costs approximately $36 for 100g, $112 for 400g and $448 for 2kg. Same story as with a lot of the other supplements recommended

Thanks but I just did a quick search of UK and German prices, which seem to be about the same as here in Denmark. Not a lot of options to choose from. Most of the search results I get is for Glucosami

OK thanks. I have misunderstood that then. But searching for chondroitin+respiratory does bring up results mentioning both spirulina and chondroitin, so that was a bit confusing. Fortunately she seems

fish oil v spirulina (algea)
Not an expert at all, but a while ago I read this: https://gettyequinenutrition.com/pages/flax-chia-or-fish-oil-which-is-best-for-omega-3s. Seems like fish oil is not the best choice for horses.

APF Europe
Anyone know where to buy APF (or a similar product if such a thing exists?) in Europe/EU? I've found it in the UK, but can't seem to find it in other countries.

32 Euro for shipment seems a bit much, but not easy to compare prizes to forageplus.co.uk, when I'm not quite sure about taxes/customs after Brexit.

Thank you. If the vet had agreed to a non-fasting test I would have gotten a time later in the day at least 4 hours after the first feeding also in the hope that the mare would be easier to draw blood

His own poo or from another horse? If it's from another horse with good healthy gut bacteria it could be his way of fixing the problem. I've also heard of it done in human medicine.

Fasting glucose test
We didn't do the glucose test at all. Once I gave up on feeding them the glucose I fed them their beetpulp and haylage, because I didn't think/know the fasting test could be done without the glucose.
