Awful Bed SOres
Anne - I never had as bad of a situation as you describe, but Scotty was up and down for almost a year. He did get hock sores. I bought Hock Shield Ultras...not cheap but better than bleeding hocks. T

How Do I Know-Winter blanketing/leg wrapping
Hey Sherry...thank you for that link on searching. I often cannot find things when I try to search for them as well, and so I often don't ask questions because everybody that responds here is so busy.

APF alternative?
This is a 2-part question: 1. Does anyone administer APF on a continual basis and is there a harm to doing so? 2. If the answer to #1 is yes, has anyone found an alternative to the very expensive APF

Buttercup's Rotation got way worse in 2 weeks!
Kathi - I was in your shoes a little over 3 years ago. At somewhere between 35-40 years old, and 2ml of sole on right, and 5ml on left (fronts) almost everyone thought I should have put Scotty down. T

Flaxmeal
Angie - When I started Flax I was buying the pre-ground as well. It was very expensive. I learned here that most people grind their own and it is WAY less expensive.

New hoof photos
A few people have asked me how Scotty was coming along and I took a few lateral pics today and added them to his photo album. I know I don't take the best pics, but I think it is obvious how very far

Cathie - When Scotty had a bad bout of that in a boarding situation/change of hay, the only thing that worked was daily probiotics and a change of hay.

what have you found to be the best therapeutic boots to wear? the new Cloud's insert now appears to slant forward. my old pair did not.
Rose - I think each horse has individual hoof shapes/sizes and based on their natural anatomy one kind of boot works better than others. I loved the Cloud boots, and he wore them exclusively for almos

What’s the average dose of Precend for most horses to actually see results (the obvious being coat growth)
Also Nina - I started Scotty on 1 mg Prascend and he is now on 5 mg Pergolide. Don't let the numbers scare you as they did me.
