We started him on ALC because the J/AAKG was helping his pain and motor function, but it wasn't bulking him back up. The ALC did, within months. The muscle he rebuilt is not jelly-like, and he looks like a normal horse again. I'd say more, but late for a wedding! Dr. Kellon can tell you about Alf if you want to know in more detail. - Cindy and Alf (and entourage) in NY |

Blue, whose feet keep him from moving much though he is free stalled, still has good muscle. I have to credit it to the ALC since it sure isn't exercise.

specific supplement - I believe the overall feed & supplement combination (including ALC) Dr. Kellon suggested for Romke was instrumental in his current obvious well being. I hope he will continue to thrive on this feeding program. Loes & Romke What changes have people who are using ALC noticed in their horse(s) ? |

Alf had muscles like jelly that were going away fast. He hasDSLD. Mr.Thewell is stalled for 8 hours a day so that he can eat his food (and not the other ponies) and not eat grass! That should change next Saturday when the trucks come in and the dirt paddock will finally become a reality! He is not lame but since he foundered in April and I was told that it will be a year before we can hope for him to do any kind of exercise. Should I put him on ACL? He is 36" and probably get some exercise on the 1/2 acre where the dirt paddock will be? Nikita and Mr.Thewell in MD |

Cindy,
Are you feeding Acetyl carnitine along with AAKG and J herb? I thought that the ALCAR was a replacement for the AAKG ?????????? That it affected Neuropathic pain better for some horses. I am really confused. (like that's unusual) Marie, Caillou and Player DSLD. We started him on ALC because the J/AAKG was helping his pain and motormonths.

How does one determine that ALC would be useful?

THANK YOU, Joan and Cindy,
Yes. ALC can be fed with aakg and jiaogulan. Just one more thing! Do they both affect Neuropathic pain in different ways? Caillou seems to be doing pretty good on the ALCAR, with her vascilating on foot pain, I thought the ALCAR was better for her. BUT, so many variables, trims, infections, etc. etc. Would it be worth a shot to try both? Can the ALCAR be split doses (that is how I have been feeding it)? Thanks again, Marie, Caillou and Player |

Something that I have wondered about, but never asked: What is the
difference between Acetyl L-Carnitine and L-Carnitine Fumerate and why is ACL preferreed over LCF? It's something I haven't been able to figure out on my own. Melody and Dusty |
