Tommi will turn 21 next week. Although she shows no signs of cushings I am going to start testing her. I do not want this sweet mare to go through what my Chantilly had to endure. Tommi has been on 1 1/2 tsp of chasteberry for around a year. This is to help her cycles. Should I discontinue the chasteberry a few days before the testing. I do not want to throw it off. It is not absolutely necessary she get it. Karen,Tommi and Angel Tilly 3-2005 Bend, Or Happy Trails Tilly-Until We Meet Again

Hi Karen -
I think you are very wise.
I would also stop the CTB before the blood work. We know it can help some horses with PPID symptoms, but there doesn't seem to be as much evidence that it can lower the ACTH. Still, you want to get a baseline without any influences.
I can't find any info on how long it takes CTB to clear the body, if it has even been determined. I would give it a week, but that's just me thinking...
