Healthy mouth for horses safe with yucca in it?

My equine dentist recommends Healthy Mouth for my miniature horse. She had a pocket in her gums at the base of her teeth. He gave me a sample, and I have been using it. It has been two months, and he is pleased with the results. The pocket is nearly gone and her breath is better. Her water bucket was extremely smelly before and now is not since using the Healthy Mouth. I would dilute the Healthy Mouth with water and rinse/syringe her mouth. The web site says to either put it in the feed or water. He wants me to put it on her food now. I went to order it and read the ingredient list and found yucca. Is it safe?

All of these ingredients are contra-indicated in an IR equine. Don't understand WHY it would be of any help taken internally for an oral issue. What was the pocket at the base of her teeth? The pocket formed at the gum line because the teeth were separated by a small amount and feed was packed in it. He thinks they will realign with time. I agree with your theory of using it systemically. I was using it as a mouth wash by syringing it in her mouth. Found that very time consuming and wanted to try it on the feed as recommended. It was better just by using it as a mouth wash or maybe it would have healed on its own. He did put a dissolvable dental material in the sepa ration when it was discovered. I used 10 ml in a quart of water and then split that between two horses. Most comes out anyway. 5 to 10 ml seems like such a small amount to affect insulin and glucose.
