Attempting to post from phone so hope the message goes through. At one time I thought I'd seen a post by dr. Kellon regarding how insulin levels might be affected along with a possible leptin trigger in horses that have been starved.
Anyone have thoughts on this?. Sorry I don't have my case file attached.

Wow that is interesting I would like more info on that too. I'm wondering if that happen to my horse. He weighed 800lbs and when we moved him he was finally allowed to eat like a normal horse. We didn't hit him with tons of grain but slowly upped to what he could handle without choking. I wonder if that triggered something cause I couldn't monitor what he was really getting. He now weighs 1,068. That is the most he has weighed in 6 yrs. I am finally able to maintain his weight with no grain and a round bale.
