My experience has been very good - using 2x a day at the rec'd doses (1) for horses who aren't sweating when weather turns warm in the Spring due to unusually warm winter -- after a few weeks, no longer need (2) horses needing antihistamines - esp. hydroxyzine/cetirizine for seasonal allergies that seem to stop them from sweating ... the antihist.s are usually needed April-Oct so they get ONE AC for the same period (3) an occasional horse who needs seasonally - don't know why but it works fine

Best of luck to you and your horse, but I have to say keeping the product constant in their system I think helps in the long run. My horse is 30 and we ride almost every day which in the South Florida heat really sucks. He has gotten much better over the years and acupuncture has helped the most. He used to be bone dry, but now we can ride and he is much better. I actually bought him a swamp cooler which runs outside his stall and blows the cold air all the way to the back of his stall so he has air conditioning once it gets really hot here. Running a fan circulating the hot air really did not do anything to hep him. He loves his swamp cooler, I did talk to the man who developed One AC and was told for my horse I should keep him on it year round, which I did for a couple years but since them I have gone another route which really seems to be working for Spirit. Hi, Kim. I have a 21 yo PPID mare who barely sweats except between the hind legs. She is not in work but is clearly heat intolerant, hiding from the sun all day. I give her 1 AC 2X daily whenever temps are above about 73. During the winter, I give it daily because I sometimes blanket. I've observed its effects are short lived, maybe 12 hrs. One AC allows her to feel very slightly damp in high temps.

I'm sorry, Gayel, it's so hard to give every detail when I'm writing. My horse sweats a little bit and is fine when not being ridden unless it is extremely hot and humid, which we do get occasionally in Southern CA. She is even fine when I ride her for an hour, but, if I trailer her for a longer ride, she doesn't sweat enough to cool herself off after the first hour unless I give her the One AC before we go.

I used One AC in previous years and gave it every day as directed. If they are not sweating they need this every day. If you only give when you ride it is like a yoyo effect. Hi Kim,
I was hoping their instructions would help: Instructions For optimal results, the manufacturer recommends that horses using One AC for the first time begin with 1 teaspoon administered twice daily. To set up twice daily administration for the first month in SmartPaks, use the Custom Dose feature and choose 1 scoop (1 teaspoon) “both AM and PM”. After the first month, you may change the dosage to 2 teaspoons once daily, which is the SmartPak Maintenance Dose. If you are already administering One AC, use the Maintenance Dose. If your horse does not fall in the weight range of 950-1100 lbs, the Custom Dose feature also allows for adjusting the administration amount. Please call us at 1-800-461-8898 if you require assistance – we are happy to help! Feeding Directions: One AC is weight dependent. Average size horse, 950-1100 lbs, one teaspoon twice daily (AM & PM). Horses over 1100 lbs, add 1/2 teaspoon for every 100 lbs. over maximum weight. Horses 600-900 lbs 1 1/2 teaspoons daily (3/4 AM - 3/4 PM). 300-600 lbs one teaspoonful daily. Miniature horses respond well to 1/2 teaspoonful daily. P.S. I do know what the ingredients are from the label, but, I don't know how they work in the body and whether it would be harmful to not give it every day.

I'm sorry, I do know what the instructions say. I guess my question is not very clear.
After using One AC for a while, it appears to me that it leaves their system in a short time. If I give my horse the daily dose in the afternoon the day before I take her on a trail ride in the morning, she doesn't sweat very much on the ride. If I give her a dose of it a couple of hours before I take her on a trail ride, she sweats much more. So, my question was whether I needed to give it to her on a daily basis so she has some in her system all the time in order for it to work or if I could just give it to her on the days that I am going to ride her or if it's especially hot and I want to make sure she doesn't get stressed. I have read where people don't use it in the winter, but, living in Southern CA, I need it year round for riding. The instructions make it sound like it needs to be given on a daily basis, but, I didn't know if that was just for marketing or not. I don't really know what the ingredients do and how it works over all. It's not that big of a deal to give it daily and then make sure I give her a dose before we ride, but, it's expensive and I just wondered if I could cut back on giving it daily. Yes, Linda, I've seen the info in the files and people have mentioned just using it in the summer and not the winter, but, I was wanting more specific info about whether it needs to build up in their system for a certain amount of time or if I could use it sporadically "as needed". I was wondering if using it "as needed" would throw things off in their bodies, etc.
