sugar values on hay sample results

I should know this by now, but what values do you add together to get the total sugar value of the sample?

Add ESC (ethanol soluble carbs - simple sugars) and starch.

Hi Linda,

can you point me in the right direction to documentation on how to understand and interpret sugars in the hay analysis reports (ESC, WSC and Starch). last year the hay analysis had "Total Sugar" and the "starch" amounts.  This year they have changed their method and are now reporting on sugars separately.  I need to know what this all means in order to compare to previous analysis and make an informed decision.   thanks
