Flaxseed oil instead of ground flax/ whole flax seeds


I wonder if the horses that don't like the ground flax, but will eat the whole flax, would eat  flax that has been freshly ground for just a second?   Just enough to crack the seed, but not turn into a fine texture that they don't like.  Would that little bit of grinding be enough to make the omega 3 available?
