Psyllium for sand colic

kansteen5545@...

Hi -
I looked this up in the files but didn't find anything - I was wondering what brand of psyllium would be safest for my horse. I have not found one without some type of flavoring. One product info ad said to give about half the amount to an IR horse. But would that still help as far as clearing the sand?

I use SandRid, which I usually get from Amazon.  Cass Bernstein had it tested and it is less than 10% ESC & Starch.  (Hope you don't mind me saying that, Cass)

I use Animed's Psyllium Fiber from Amazon, called AniPsyll. It's only $5/pound instead of $10. It's a plain powder like Uckele.

AniPsyll is not pure psyllium husk.  It is diluted with what they only describe as "roughage" (plant fiber), which could be just about anything and definitely not necessarily high in soluble fiber. See list on page 17 here:

If you don't need to worry about IR, who has found the best but inexpensive Psyllium?
It's so expensive!! Or any alternative uses that do the same?
Thank you!
