Missing Pergolide!

Somehow the Post Office has sent my Pergolide order on a merry trip around the country. I just checked again and it left Billings, Montana, around noon, so MIGHT be here Monday if all goes well... I ordered it from Thriving Pets on Saturday and it went out Monday. Usually it gets here in 2-3 days and I was a bit concerned when it wasn't here on Thursday and REALLY concerned when it wasn't there Friday. My Postmistress said to see if they had a tracking number and check where it was, so I did...
The problem is Magic took the last pill I had last night, so at best he will go 2 nights without his Pergolide!!! This certainly isn't the time of year for that, but didn't know if there was anything I could do for him while he is without his pills. He is currently on 3mg. I guess I've learned my lesson. I already ordered more, just in case it doesn't show up at all or something. I will start giving a few more days leeway in the future, but that doesn't help the now!!!

The same thing happened to me this month. It took 10 days from the day it was sent from thriving pets to arrive. I called Thriving Pets twice about this.They placed the blame on the post office. I'm concerned about ordering from them in the future.

Well, I went through the Post Office tracking and for some reason they sent it north, instead of west. It has been at 3 different places in Montana. So strange. I'm pretty friendly with our PostMistress, so will print it out and have her look at it when I finally get it. Very strange, I think. I got a notice from Thriving Pets that they had shipped it on Monday, August 3, and that is what the Post Office says too, but why it has been riding around the northwest from town to town is beyond me... It must have just got on the wrong truck out of Denver or something...
I've been ordering from Thriving Pets for 3 or 4 years and this is the first time this has happened. Guess I got too complacent!!!

Wow, it really is sight-seeing. someone was asleep at the PO and put it in the wrong outgoing bag/box.
I try to give myself at least 7-10 days to order, I had to order a new batch with new prescription call in, vet was on vacation, so had to wait for her return to get my order; after that, I try to give myself a little bit more time.

I had always allowed 7-8 days before and never had a problem. I will try to remember to allow at least 10-12 from now on, just in case.

Thanks for the info. I am going to miss 2 doses (well, we hope it isn't more!) and had just gone up to 3mg this past month. I will hope it won't affect him too much. It is so upsetting, but I feel rather helpless to do anything about it this time!.
I have been sick (Pneumonia) for the past couple of months, so at least went out and rode him around the barn paddock for a few minutes today. So nice to be a little more active!

Hi Ferne,
My pergolide was late this month too. It took 7 days total. It's never taken that long. Tracking number showed it was stuck in Denver for some time. I was going to run out over the weekend, so I went to the local vet clinic and purchased some Pracend to hold me over. Keeping a few extra Pracend tabs in the fridge just in case from now on.
I would like to know if there is another compounding pharmacy in the Pacific NW or California that would enable faster shipping?

I've been using Pet health Pharmacy in AZ the last couple of years with very good results. I'm on the east coast and shipping is priority mail and always arrives here 2 days after being shipped.
I always time calls for refills in so they ship on a Monday so there is no chance of things sitting somewhere over the weekend.

A nearby friend (well, an hour away) saw my post and said she can let me have a couple of pills to tide me over!!! Some wonderful people on this list!!!
I will check into Pet Health for the future. When it is time to change my prescription, I just as well change pharmacies too.

Ian from Thriving Pets called me this morning and said that he had checked the tracking on my pills and that they had arrived in San Francisco at 1:02am today, so would imagine they should be delivered today. I had asked for FEDEX overnight shipping on my second order, just to be sure, but he said since I had enough pills for a few days and SHOULD get my other shipment today, he would suggest FEDEX 2-day, which should get here Wednesday--so thought I should be covered that way.
It was very nice of him to save me that little bit on the FEDEX shipping and he said he would talk to his local Post Office to see if there was anything they could do to avoid these shipping problems in the future. In the meantime, he said try to order at least 2 weeks in advance, just to be safe.

Just wanted to let everyone know that my Pergolide order arrived at my Post Office today. I appreciate everyone's interest in the problem, Thriving Pets attention to the problem, and Diane giving me a gift of a few Pergolide pills to tide me over.
