Has anyone used Wedgewood Pharmacy for their Pergolide?

Thanks,

Hi Julia,

Instead of waiting for the compounded version, maybe you could get a box of Prascend from your vet. Its tedious, but not impossible, to split the tablets into 0.5mg (what I started with) or even 0.25mg. That way you could start as soon as you get the Prascend.

Just a thought; I know youre anxious to get things rolling. Luckily youre not staring at astronomically high IR numbers from Cornell, so you can relax...a tiny bit :))

We are here for you! I know its overwhelming and very easy to make yourself crazy...but you will be on the other side of the chaos & agony eventually. Just stay the course; Ive survived two IRs (one very difficult PPID) who tag team their crises so Im always tweaking one's DDTE or the other...but seeing them feel better and downright prosper and bloom into better, healthier horses, is so so worth all the trouble!

You'll get there!

Julia,
I started my Cushings and IR mini on Wedgewood "Gourmeds" pergolide about a month ago.  At first I was appalled by the huge size of the 1 mg tablet: no way I could hide it in the thimble of pellets I'd been using to conceal the Prascend tablet.  However, no need to hide it--she gobbles it right up.  The potency seems to be similar to Prascend, to judge by it's effect on coat, feet, fattiness, brightness.  I have bought Pentosan for a old TB from Wedgewood, and my vet seemed to think they were reliable.

Hi Julia,

Wedgewood Pharmacy has been used by many over the years. Their pricing tends to be higher compared with Pet Health Pharmacy, however, so when one has multiple horses needing meds that becomes a consideration.

Thanks Barbara , that’s who I ended up ordering from.  The pills vet prescribed are 1 mg, he didn’t want to start with the lower doses & work up.  They are green apple flavored chewable I was told.  They should be here Friday so I can’t wait& the ODTB cubes are supposed to be in next Tuesday.  There was a problem because they come from a different plant that where my local store orders from.  I have Luxy on the Benedryl for her allergies right now & she gobbles those pink tabs right up.I think it is easing the itchiness but not totally relieving it.  I feel such relief that hopefully next week she will feel much better!

It’s just that Wedgewood is in eastern PA & I’m in western PA, But it was still $30 for 1 day shipping.  I hadn’t asked how much it would be from the Pet Health which is, I think, in AZ or someplace out west.  My vet was very irritated at how long it took to get someone on the line so he could prescribe.  I may see about Pet Health next time, with the extreme heat right now & my craziness that I want to get her on this NOW, I wanted to overnight it.
Thanks,
