18 year old POA winter laminitis help needed
JUDITH S. SCHNEIDER
We are going to start Rosa on poultice to see if that will help draw out the abscess. For pain management, I noticed some members are using Ketamine. She has been receiving Devil's Claw, however, that is not helping with her severe pain level. We have been giving her Bute, so she can move a few steps. Her pain level is so high, she is shaking when stationary and when she takes a few steps. We want to d/c Bute asap!.
Thoughts and suggestions are much appreciated. -- Judy S in NM 2023 |

Please tell us what has been done to give Rosa a realigning trim.

HI Cass,
The farrier was out on 3/1/23. He took off approximately 3/4 inch off of the toe. Took the heels down a bit (not sure how to describe the amount) and nothing off the sole. He returned on 3/16 to check on her. He did not notice any significant toe growth (it's been very cold). He noticed she was standing square. Unfortunately, they forgot to take photos! -- Judy S in NM 2023 |

Cass,
I forgot to mention, the farrier noticed that her souls have dropped. -- Judy S in NM 2023 |

Hi Judy IME there are two ways to know if your trim is physiologically realigned is through tracking new growth via a careful digital pic history or, more effectively by a mile, through new radiographs. ECIR Group NEW Case History site is now open Bookmark and save this link somewhere on your device(s). https://ch.ecirhorse.org/ |
