Free PPID testing results

I will get right on creating Paisley's case history when I get to my desktop...but in the meantime I got her results back:
ACTH: 42.5 H pmol/l
Taken October 20
She's only 16 andbhad some shedding issues which corrected with CTB this year.
My vet recommends Prascend Immediately, any feedback on the results? Is that high for prior to seasonal rise?

Hi Natalie,

October is right in the midst of the seasonal rise but that still is an elevated result and the non-shedding is indicative of PPID as well.  You can wait and retest her after the first of the year to see if that level has come down and then decide to treat if she's still outside of the lab range or start to treat now and check 3 weeks after reaching the target dose to see if she's in a better spot.

Thanks Sherry. The clinic quoted
 $268.11 for Prascend. GULP....

Many Canadians use compounded pergolide from Island Pharmacy in BC. I have used their product for many years. It's regularly tested and service is excellent. Prascend would be unaffordable foe my pony.

Natalie, go here in our Files.....

Island Pharmacy is great.
There may be other good compounding pharmacies not right across the country from you,but compounding from a good pharmacy is the way to go. Dr. Google should help.
I always speak to Kathryn there. Even for Ontario, the shipping was fast and not cost prohibitive, when I was purchasing their compounded pergolide  for my herd.
