Commercial Feed Analysis Library When: Description: Commercial Feed Analysis LibraryOver the years individual ECIR Group members have sent various commercial feeds to be tested then generously shared the information. The Commercial Feed Analysis Library is a new term for an old file folder where any member can go and view unbiased analyses of commercial feeds. These analyses are a valuable part of the science that the ECIR uses to help our IR and PPID horses and are valuable tools used to prevent laminitis. If you have an analysis of a commercial feed please, instead of uploading it to your own folder, please consider sharing it with the entire group by by notifying us here. View the Commercial Feed Analysis Library Thanks for your help and cooperation. - ECIR Group Owners and Support Team |

I just looked into this and as one item is fed to my PPID horse. It has four columns and the first has no name, second as sampled. I see a huge difference between unnamed column and as sampled column on ESC and Starch. My hay analysis just has as sampled column. When I look at unnamed column I think feed is okay, but not so when I read as sampled?
Item is Alfalfa-Tech alfalfa/timothy cubes BTW correct brand name for this company based in Legal Alberta is Alfa-Tech -- Kandace K Rocky Mountains, Alberta, Oct 2 https://ecir.groups.io/g/CaseHistory/files/Kandace%20J%20and%20K |

If you look at the top of the columns, the first one is %, the other is g/lb . You use the first column.
Some horses don't tolerate alfalfa regardless of the sugar + starch. Also remember these are not guaranteed levels. They will change from batch to batch. -- Eleanor in PA www.drkellon.com |

Thanks Eleanor, I will go back and look again. And yes, the fact it is not guaranteed is understood just as hay crops will be different. When you say some horses don't tolerate alfalfa, what do you mean? Ontario dehy is not available to me, but I have fed this Alfa Tech product for years. Is this something I should test for with bloodwork, beyond ACTH?

Some horses get footsore on it. If they have been tolerating it well, it's not an issue.
