curious about Metformin  and its  effectiveness is? my under standing is that it only works for a couple of weeks or a month? Is it a goal to lower the insulin while  you correct other imbalances i.e. high starch in hay  supplements etc.?

It is usually true that insulins start to rise again after about a month but not in all cases and they may still remain better than before it was started. There are also laminitic horses that remain more comfortable even when the insulins go back up and this may have to do with  metformin effects on neuropathic pain.
