Cadet and Ruger--plan for adjusting pergolide dosage
riggslippert@...
Hello,
I am very happy to report that both of my horses are doing well, aside from two (Ruger) and one (Cadet) abscesses, which I am told are very common here in wet western Washington. Cadet has lost a little more weight and is being ridden in the arena for 30-45 minutes 1-2 times/week, in addition to hand walking 2-3 times/week. I'm hoping to get him back out on the trails this summer. HIs most recent insulin was the lowest it has ever been! Both of their case histories are up to date. Last year they both had ACTH levels well controlled in early July, but I ended up increasing both horses' doses of pergolide in anticipation of the seasonal rise by 1 mg anyway. They both got a little too high in spite of this. This year, their ACTH levels are even lower, as of the end of May, but I'm planning on increasing them both by 0.5 mg in early July. I'll check their levels at the end of July to see if I have to increase further. Does this sound like a good plan? Please advise if you think I should change my approach. As always, thank you for your invaluable help in making these decisions! -- Aunna October 2018 Island County, Washington, USA Cadet Case History: https://ecir.groups.io/g/CaseHistory/files/Aunna%20and%20Cadet Ruger Case History: https://ecir.groups.io/g/CaseHistory/files/Aunna%20and%20Ruger Cadet Photo Album: https://ecir.groups.io/g/CaseHistory/album?id=84102 |
