I have uploaded hay analysis. Can you please confirm I'm looking for ESC + Starch and that since this appears below 10%, I can feed to Hogan without soaking? Also, is there enough Magnesium in this hay or do I need to supplement? If I were to mineral balance to this hay, what would I need to provide please?

Hi Robin,
If Hogan is doing well on balance cubes, he should be fine on the unsoaked hay, which probably has lower ESC+starch than the cubes.  Figuring out what is needed to mineral balance the hay is a bit more complicated.  It takes special training, which you can acquire yourself by taking Dr. Kellon’s NRC+ course. I don’t know what her class schedule is now so in the meantime you can ask Dr. Kellon to balance it, using Uckele products, and she doesn’t charge you for that service.  We also have a list of hay balancers who have taken Dr. Kellon’s course and met the approval bar for doing it for others.  These professionals charge fees which they set themselves.  For any of these, you will need to submit the results of an appropriate hay analysis and a case history for your horse.  There is no reason the balancer has to live close to you.

Hi Cass,

I've uploaded an updated case history for Hogan. He is doing well. He is in a really good place. His hooves are looking so much better and the heat, pulse and pain are gone.
