Vitamin E product in oil
Cindy Giovanetti
I use that same product. I contacted the manufacturer to double check since oil was not listed as an ingredient, and they told me there WAS oil in it and they would be correcting their label.

You're correct, LJ. Glycerin is not an oil. The ingredients list must state some type of oil.

Carolyn, I hadn’t even noticed that.
My last bag was 1200, yes they must have changed it. You could add a small amount of powdered as well. I feed powdered in the winter months because my horses spit out the capsules if they’re cold. I do squeeze it out but it’s harder when it’s cold. And regarding glycerin and water (can’t remember who pointed that out) it’s the capsules. -- Bobbie and Maggie Desi (over the rainbow bridge 7/21) Utah, Nov 2018 ECIR Group Primary Response Horsekeeping Moderator https://ecir.groups.io/g/CaseHistory/files/Bobbie%20and%20Maggie https://ecir.groups.io/g/CaseHistory/album?id=271156 https://ecir.groups.io/g/CaseHistory/files/Bobbie%20and%20Desi https://ecir.groups.io/g/CaseHistory/album?id=78821 |

Carolyn,
The type of oil does not matter, it just needs to be enough to dissolve the vitamin E before adding to the feed. -- Eleanor in PA www.drkellon.com BOGO 2 for 1 Course Sale Through End of January |

I do subscribe to Dr. Kellon's word press articles and it is where I learned that horses that aren't on fresh pasture need Vit E supplementation, and it was this article https://drkhorsesense.wordpress.com/2018/07/01/vitamin-e-and-selenium-are-powerful-protectors/ that I learned that Vit E has to be given in oil. What I was saying is that I also buy the product you linked to on Amazon and the product I received has "Sunflower Oil" on the list of ingredients; however, the product shown on Amazon is different. It does not show sunflower oil on the list of ingredients. It also shows that the capsules are 1000 IU's, not 1200 IU's (which are what mine are). I think the product may have changed since the last time you & I ordered it. I asked the question to the seller though but haven't yet received a response. If this product has changed and no longer contains sunflower oil, I'm going to have to figure out what oil is best and how much. It seems like a miniscule amount so the type of oil may not matter much. It's a question I have though and not one that I've found the answer to yet :) -- Carolyn L in UT 2022 Case History: CaseHistory@ECIR.groups.io | Case History Photo Album: CaseHistory@ECIR.groups.io | Photo Album |

This is what I use during summer months.
it’s a great buy and depending on how much you use it doesn’t take many. I also use powdered form, my horses get approximately 2500 to 5000 daily. It’s cheap insurance. And the best part they’re relatively small. -CVS my go to pharmacy for vit e in oil, appears to no longer stock theiir 400 iu vit e in oil, in larger quantities. Ive always bought bottles in #240 quantities and with buy1 get 1, each capsule cost ,.03 each for 2 horses, I use 20 capsules a day And the 400 iu were much less expensive compared to the 1000 iu bottles based on total iu needed . where to get oil based on a net cost of 03 per capsule of 400 iu??? -- LJ Friedman Nov 2014 Vista, Northern San Diego, CA Jesse( over the rainbow) and majestic ‘s Case History

I didn't realize I read this thread that the list of ingredients doesn't include any sort of oil; however, in March 2022, someone said that there is virgin sunflower seed oil in them. And then on January 23, 2023 one of the reviews says that this products has raised their horses Vit E level "100 points in just 3 months." Hello Lorna,
She objects to anything in feed, since vet clinic thought she would just "eat" 27 tablets of Metformin in a 1/2 of pellets. I cannot even disguise the pergolide in a carrot, she will not eat them. -- Kandace K Rocky Mountains, Alberta, Oct 2020 https://ecir.groups.io/g/CaseHistory/files/Kandace%20J%20and%20K https://ecir.groups.io/g/CaseHistory/album?id=259062 |

Thanks for pointing out the ratio's inversion, KirstenThis topic of capsules is interesting, but my horse will not eat anything that isn't feed. She has become very suspious of anything new in her feed pan, so I will stick to the vitamin E powder in a 1/2 Tbsp of oil.
