Special Request Regarding Hoof Radiographs
This isn't really special since it's been said countless times before:
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU USE RADIOOPAQUE MARKERS AT BOTH THE CORONARY BAND AND THE TIP OF THE FROG. Doing this makes it much, much, much easier to give precise trim advice such as how much further back to take the toe. Without the marker there, we can't be precise. With the marker we can tell you something like take the toe back x % of the current distance from tip of frog to breakover. -- Eleanor in PA www.drkellon.com |

Just a reminder, this can be as simple as a tack pushed into the tip of the frog (if you suspect very thin soles, you can snip the tip of the tack off, but it will be harder to push it in without a sharp tip), and a nail or wire taped on so that the top is lined up with the top of the hoof wall. Your vet does not need to have barium paste on hand.
