Winter laminites

@GHK

Hi.

Can a pony get well from winter laminites or is this a prblem that will come back every winter?
And will it cause rotation in the same way Laminites does?

Hi Hilde,
Once a horse has shown evidence of winter laminitis, you should continue to be on guard for it in the winters that follow.  The more correct the trim is, the less likely it will cause a problem.  It does not cause rotation.  It’s not technically the same as metabolic laminitis, but rather a sensitivity to cold which developed as a result of having previously been laminitic.
