JHerb question

And it’s been cold overnight, 30 degrees in my barn yesterday at 8AM. You have a lot of potential causes but cold would be high on my list of suspects.

As a random data point, Cayuse had no rebound when I stopped banamine cold.

There’s no harm adding another teaspoon of Jiaogulan each time you give Laminox and Glycemic EQ. Check the gums for a consistent effect. And I’d go full winter laminitis protocol for a while. We’re headed into a cold rainy cycle.

Thanks Cass, yes sometimes his gums seem pinker but I would say it is inconsistent.  I will monitor this to trend the level of consistency.

He is getting the Laminox and Glycocemic Eq with his beet pulp, tc sr, stabul 1 mix.

Last night, he seemed pretty sore on the LF (which he hasnt been for a while now), so I am not sure if we are having a rebound effect or if he just needs loading time with the DC to get the full benefit.

Thanks Nan

Nancy, you didn’t mention if Vinnie’s gums and tongue are pinker about an hour after Glycemic EQ and Laminox. That’s the test. 8 grams of Jiaogulan isn’t necessarily the maximum especially if you’re combining Glycemic EQ and Laminox with other feeds. When not fed alone and 20 minutes before other feed, you could need more Jiaogulan to get the best vasodilation effect.

Hi all,

As you all know I have taken Vinnie off Nsaids which he has been on like literally forever, so I feel like this is a massive milestone.

He has lots going on in the LF, bone loss, ring bone, plus sustained damage from sinking medially. So the fact that he is walking nearly sound is pretty awesome off nsaids.

I have a question about jherb, he is getting laminox  1 scoop twice a day and Glycocemic eq one scoop twice a day.  Would it be crazy to add a little more jherb to help with any residual hoof pain?

He is a little more trepidatious on hard surfaces off nsaids.  I am not sure if that is the ringbone or the feet just getting used to not having nsaids on board.

He is also getting powdered DC 10g syringe twice daily for the last two days.

Thanks in advance
Nan
