Endurance or CTR competitiors, pergolide legality
50% of horses show an increase in ACTH between 2 to 4 days after stopping; all within 10 days and all horses had detectable pergolide levels for 2 days, some as long as 7 days so where there is a policy in place, like the 1 day withdrawal, it doesn't really correlate with whether or not they could find it if they tested.

Thank you Dr. Kellon,
21 days is referring to time to see diffeneces in dosage changes. I guess I thought that would be a withdrawal period. My horses dosage is 3 mg or three Prascend tablets daily. -- Kandace K Rocky Mountains, Alberta, Oct 2020 K and J (over the rainbow bridge) and now T https://ecir.groups.io/g/CaseHistory/files/Kandace%20J%20and%20K https://ecir.groups.io/g/CaseHistory/album?id=259062 |

Thank you Sherry,
Our organization, CTR, does not allow any drugs period. So these links can help me to set up a rule change for this, possibly. -- Kandace K Rocky Mountains, Alberta, Oct 2020 K and J (over the rainbow bridge) and now T https://ecir.groups.io/g/CaseHistory/files/Kandace%20J%20and%20K https://ecir.groups.io/g/CaseHistory/album?id=259062 |

Sherry Morse
AERC allows pergolide (DrugRuleAppendices.pdf (aerc.org). CTR organizations differ on their rules and you would need to check with them. NATRC does allow it: download.php (natrc.org). ECTRA does not (ECTRA-FINAL-RULEBOOK-2022.pdf p13)

Kandace, you would ned to ask the organisation conducting the rides (AERC?) about their rules as it may not be the same as FEI. Over here, pergolide is not banned, just notifiable to the head vet at local non-FEI rides.

What 21 day period are you talking about? There was no mention of dosage.

Thank you, once again Dr. Kellon.
I am assuming the 24 hour withdrawal will not impact the horse too much in the 21 DAY period for blood to get most of the benefit? And is it permitted at more than 1 mg? -- Kandace K Rocky Mountains, Alberta, Oct 2020 K and J (over the rainbow bridge) and now T https://ecir.groups.io/g/CaseHistory/files/Kandace%20J%20and%20K https://ecir.groups.io/g/CaseHistory/album?id=259062 |

It's permitted by FEI with a 24 hour withdrawal https://files.usef.org/assets/VuieAAoSszM/pergolide-faq.pdf

Good day to all,
I am currently rehabing my mare K and would love to be able to give her one last CTR (equivalant to LD Endurance) IF she continues to improve with conditioning. My question is about drug, pergolide, which is on the FEI controlled substance list and if any other competitiors have had issue in riding while horse is medicated or do your associations not follow FEI drug rules? -- Kandace K Rocky Mountains, Alberta, Oct 2020 K and J (over the rainbow bridge) and now T https://ecir.groups.io/g/CaseHistory/files/Kandace%20J%20and%20K https://ecir.groups.io/g/CaseHistory/album?id=259062 |
