Update on Ollie

Ann Priddy

--I have updated Ollie's folder with new lab results and the diet changes. It took about a month for him to get over most of the pergolide veil, though his appetite did not go back to normal and he has struggled with eating some of the supplements. Then last week he regressed to feeling very lethargic and leaving some of his feed. I am in the process of trying different supplements that he will tolerate. I am concerned about his overall condition. Please look at my updated case history for some of my concerns.   Thanks.

I agree ulcers are a possibility but I also didn't see mention of an adaptogen to help him adjust to the pergolide - either APF or Jiaogulan. It can make a huge difference.

Hi Ann,

Have you had your hay tested?  If yes, have you had it balanced?  Do you have current pictures of Ollie?  At this point it's unlikely it's due to any sort of pergolide veil but he could be experiencing ulcers or foot pain.

Hi Ann,

Can you share your hay test, and the results from the Feed XL.com balancing done?

Hello Ann,

Read through his case history, didn't see any mention of mouth/teeth issues, but the photo indicates issues.

Thanks for your suggestion and those of other members. His hay and pasture testing are in my photo album. His feed has been balanced professionally. I also was very concerned about his front teeth so had my vet examine and float his teeth in December.  Yesterday after not dosing him with pergolide two days he was back to his pre dx self. He was perky and willing on line and under saddle for a brief period. He had eaten all of his feed and cleaned up his hay. HIs whole attitude was more like he was earlier this fall before the laminitis episode. I have ordered EPF and will start him on it and then gradually taper him back on the pergolide. Given his symptoms should I go back to one quarter tab or to half a tab? I want to do right by him and hopefully get him back on track.

Thanks, Ann. I see the hay tests. Is there a copy of the Feed XL balancing work?

I got a copy of Feed XL report. I was having difficulty uploading it to my photo album so uploaded it to files. The horse name is not Levi and my horses name is Ollie. I hope you can access it or walk me through adding it to my case hx or photo album. Thanks so much.

Hi Ann,

I see it and 2 copies of Ollie's Case history in the Files area of the Case History sub-group.

To upload it INTO your folder, you need to navigate to your Case History file folder first.  The easiest way is to click on the link in your signature!  Here it is: https://ecir.groups.io/g/CaseHistory/files/Ann%20and%20Ollie

Now, at the top left of the screen you should see a blue "+ New/Upload" button.  Click on the drop down arrow to see the options, and select "Upload File".  Follow the prompts to navigate to where your file is stored on your device, and select the file to upload.

Once both files are in your Case History folder, please go to this link and delete your FeedXL file and the 2 copies of Ollie's Case History from the files area:
