Acth testing kat

Csu

Hey team.  I am retesting all kat’s blood work on tuesday.  Given the last two tests were still during the annual rise I will be interested to see if the 1.5 MG of prascend is doing the trick.  I am now thinking ahead.  Can someone remind me when the annual rise starts?  I know i will need to be thinking about upping his dose and wondering how that works.  Do I test again at the start of the rise to see if the 1.5 is still working?  If not up his dose and test again?

Hi Carolyn,

Here is a link to information on the seasonal rise, included in your welcome letter, for future reference.

Hi Carolyn,

We usually suggest retesting ACTH in early July to see if it's climbing.  That gives you time to increase the dose and retest in early August (if possible) to make sure the new dose is enough.  Pergolide increases during the main part of the rise are not effective so you want to be ahead of it.
