Phenylbutazone alternative for arthritis
I came across a new product that is safe for EMS/PPID, TamaFlex https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9514497/ . Unfortunately, they don't have an equine product in powder form and at 20 human capsules per day it's prohibitively expensive. I do suspect it is the Tamarind seed doing most or all of the work here and you only need 1.8 grams/day to duplicate this product. The seed powder is available online, e.g. https://tinyurl.com/5yvua655 .Personally, I have been underimpressed by the effects of curcumin but if you want to add that to duplicate the formula use 700 mg. The tamarind seed is also very IR friendly.

CORRECTION: The Tamarind was an extract so you would have to use 7.2 grams/day but it's still only 0.30/day. It is slow acting though, takes at least 28 days to start working. Could combine with Devil's Claw.

Always wonderful to find something new. I looked online at some of the TamaFlex capsules for human use. Most seem to contain boswellia and some have glucosamine and chondroitin. I've been dithering on adding 1 drop of boswellia essential oil to 1000 mg liquid curcumin which is administered via syringe or to add it to 2 tabs Prascend also administered via another syringe. Dont want to have to go to 3 syringes to add tamarind extract so hoping it is palatable. Mare says that powdered boswellia is unfit to eat.

Dr. Kellon,
I use tamarind to cook with and the tamarind link provided here is to the dried powder of the tamarind pulp, not the seeds. The pulp is tangy and used in sauces and candy.
The seeds are not used in cooking and I suspect the pulp and seeds have different properties. The ingredients just say tamarind but the description of the product describes the pulp that is used for cooking.
