I don't think anyone would blame you for calling it quits. Especially Domino. It sounds like you've gone to heroic measures to not only save him, but to give him a good and happy home.
There comes a time when we all need to weigh quality of life against longevity. Saying goodbye isn't ever easy, but sometimes it's the kindest thing to do... for everyone involved.
