Advanced Planning for Cold Weather Laminitis
erica busch
I've been reading in this group about cold induced laminitis and would like to be prepared for it. Windy's fronts are cold when it gets cold and I'm constantly worried about the cold laminitis. Seems you never know when it can occur.
I was thing of a check list of sorts to have on hand with the dosage etc. of helpful Meds and herbs and the amounts to give and when. If I should give something I'd like to order it before I need it to have on hand so I won't have to wait a few days or a week if I need to order it. Also, if her fronts are cold even with wrapping can I give something to reduce the risk of cold weather laminitis. I read this link about pain relief and was wondering if this would be my answer? https://ecir.groups.io/g/main/files/Pain%20Medication%20and%20Alternatives/Pain%20Relief%20Alternatives%20to%20Bute%20and%20Banamine.pdf Thank you for your time. I don't want to be in an emergency situation. Erica Busch PA 2022 https://ecir.groups.io/g/CaseHistory/files/Windy%20Case%20History |

Hi Erica, If you're worried about the possibility of winter laminits as soon as the temperature is below 40F you should be wrapping her legs and putting her in boots. You can also add in a blanket to help keep her warm but the legs and feet are the most important to focus on. You can also administer Jiaogulan, arginine and Citrulline. You can read more at:
