Asthma - Flax, Omega and Cocosoya question

Jess R

Hi everyone,

2 questions! I saw somewhere a discussion with Dr Kellon and spirulina and asthma and how flaxseed and omega is actually better for asthma. Could someone verify that? My pony has a nebulizer, and soaked hay but still experiences a cough mainly if he is at rest or at the walk.

last question, is Cocosoya safe to help coat for supplements? I’ve seen it mentioned in the group but not sure with PPID if it’s okay. California trace+ arrives this week, and Stabul 1 samples in fenugreek and peppermint too but I have W-3 oil from Madbarn and he was finicky before but it could have been other things he was protesting and I’ve removed it all. Right now he is only eating beet pulp and hay.

Cocosoya is fine.  Have you checked his ACTH levels recently to see if the current dose of pergolide is adequate?

I had the vet out for images of his front feet and requested the metabolic panel for Cornell and he said since we don't have a fall baseline for Clover he wanted to wait 2 more weeks so I will be testing then. I wouldn't add the cocosoya until I have the metabolic panel results.

The CocoSoya won't affect your metabolic panel results so no reason to wait. I would also get him back on the Mad Barn omega-3 oil. If you mean it's better than Spirulina though the answer is no. They should be used together.
