case history Charlie

Gonnie

Case history done from Charlie. I hope that it's ok now. Including all the blood tests.

Question , The Insuline is getting down because of the metformine she gets it for 2 weeks now. The latest bloodtest i have done is after 9 days metformine , you can see in the case history, that the metformine work for her.

She is eating not good withe the metformine  in her food is it possible to put it right in the mouth with some sugerfree appeljuice? then I now for sure that she get it all.

Thank you for your help I'm so grateful fort your help.

Hi Gonnie,

Here’s a link to some helpful information on metformin, including using Milk of Magnesia as a carrier for the metformin when syringing.

Hi Gonnie,

I don't think your lab results showed up in the new case history.

For Metformin, you can syringe it in but we recommend mixing it with Milk of Magnesia, then rinsing the mouth thoroughly with water afterwards.  Otherwise Metformin can cause mouth ulcers when it's syringed in.  Here's some tips on syringing it:

Gonnie, in case you can’t get Milk of Magnesia in the EU (we can’t get it here), a liquid antacid such as Gaviscon can be used.

I'm not seeing the lab results still.  Are you entering them into the new online Case History form?

Hi Gonnie

I have also looked for your results in both sites.  Could you please provide us with a link to what you are seeing?

Thanks.

Yes i have upload them and they are on documents, in the new online case hostory

OK...Now we see the problem.  The Docs are in your personal D&I library, which is not visible to the public.

You need to fill out the text information in the LABS section. Then pretty please link to the docs in your D&I library.

It is easy to do. Go here for more help. Scroll down to labs.

Hi Gonnie

You are selling yourself way too short.  You have successfully added the text in the LABS section and also added the link to your March 2023 insulin documents.

Here is what the public sees as your CH for Charlie thus far. Have a look at what is there under LABS. https://ch.ecirhorse.org/case-history.php?id=90

To connect your lab documentation to your additional text results in the LABS section, you need to go to your LABS add/edit work area. This is different from the link above.
Only you can see this.  https://ch.ecirhorse.org/lab-results.php?id=90

Once at the lab section work area, you should see the DOCUMENTATION Column with buttons to ADD doc or ADD jpg. Click on the desired button (I think you loaded docs) and you will go to D&I to make the connection. It will hopefully take you less than a couple of minutes. We ask you to do this so that the volunteers can quickly see the actual results. It also provides back up for aggregate research data collection.

The good new is that the insulin is significantly reduced, apparently after the metformin!  Nice job.  I hope you can find a substitute for milk of magnesia to help get it into her.

For folks following along: Understanding the new CH road map -- what goes where and why -- is not hard, just a little different. You can read more about the new site lay out in these two Wiki CH guide links:

Good work, Gonnie!!  And all of you who have jumped into the pool!

Hang in there, Gonnie, it gets easier.  Retraining the brain with new tasks like this is hard!  It has nothing to do with smart vs stupid.

I see your labs and 1 linked report to the oldest insulin!  Although the second report isn't linked to the new insulin, yet, your numbers show that Charlie is doing very well on the Metformin.  You'll want to keep monitoring insulin because Metformin may lose effectiveness with time.  How often is up to you (every 3 months?), but at any sign of hoof soreness make sure you check insulin again.
