ECIR Group NEW Case History site__UPDATE 100 CHs
Dear ECIR Group Members ~
I am beyond happy to announce that the new ECIR Group CH site has been open just over two weeks and we have met Dr Kellon’s initial goal of 100 histories! We have 173 members who have been approved for membership to the new site. Many thanks to those who have stepped up to help pay it forward. By meeting our goal of 100 histories we are that much closer to begin looking at aggregate data to see what may be found. If you have started with your Equine Basic Information, we encourage you to give continue with at least two years of data. We understand new folks may not have two years of data, and hope that you folks will add more as we continue on this path. Update for next two weeks: The two sites - groups.io Case History subgroup and ecirhorse.org Case History App — will be run simultaneously until March 31, 2023. MEMBERS WITH EXISTING CASE HISTORIES filed on groups.io Case History subgroup prior to March 1, 2023, may file updates on groups.io until that date. Forms are still available if you need them in the groups.io CH subgroup files. After March 31, 2023 the groups.io CH subgroup will be open for “read only”, meaning there will be no access for new uploads but members can view their histories. This significant library will not be going away, and can be referred to when input from the group is needed for your equine. At that point, however, all updates will need to be filed on the new site. You may choose to immediately start updates on the new site. MEMBERS WHO NEED TO START A NEW CASE HISTORY please go to the new site to be approved. You must be a member of ECIR groups.io. Here is the link: https://ch.ecirhorse.org/ Bookmark and save this link somewhere on your device(s). Scroll down to the green Membership Request button, fill our the PROFILE info, and you will be approved fairly quickly if you are an existing ECIR groups.io member. Once you have requested membership, you will receive two emails. Look for them in your spam folder. Once approved, enroll your equine’s Basic Information and bookmark the page so you can find it more easily. Add additional info as you can. Guidance for use of the new site is in the main forum Wiki. Many members just dove in and added their info. Taking at look at least some areas, like loading HOOF photos, is recommended. Look for !! LEARNING CURVE as a flag in the Wiki guides. This is a good place to start for general info: https://ecir.groups.io/g/main/wiki/33272 I love looking at what you have done so far. Many thanks. Hi All --
I have been asked if members should migrate data from older histories to the new site. Thank you for this question. Yes, if you want to migrate your existing, info that would be awesome. For some histories that have been with us for many years, it is a big ask, but will be hugely helpful to the data pool. One could start with the most recent two years and then work back as time allows. The site is flexible enough to allow you to do that. Thanks again. -- Nancy C in NH ECIR Moderator 2003 ECIR Group Inc. Hi Nancy, This is all news to me, I have been out of it for 3 months after a fall off my horse. Please tell me where to go to find out what is going on and what I am supposed to do. I have an existing case history for my ECIR horse Pax, do not know if I am supposed to do something new . Nancy, I hope you don't mind my emailing you directly. I started a case history for my horse, Kinzu, two years ago when he had laminitis but didn't have a lot of the information you needed. He recovered nicely from that so I didn't follow-up -- other things just got in the way. But as he is aging, it's clear I need some guidance on how to best manage him. He's sound now, but his insulin levels are awful (worse, actually, then when he was laminitic). I've been working with my vet, and the barn managers, but didn't really track all the changes (meds and supplements) we've made to his diet. He's a horribly picky eater and I feel like we're "tweaking" things all the time -- and half the time he doesn't eat everything so it's pretty hard to tell what he actually does get. On the other hand, I have a good record of his labwork. I could update his original case history, but would it just be better if I started from scratch? Thank you. Pamela White Should I just start over with a new case history?

Nancy,
I’m TOTALLY confused as to how this works… All I want to know is if the hay I’m contemplating buying would be considered lower sugar/nsc? I have no clue how to enter a “case study” Help!!!!

Hi Lynn
First, I assume you know you are writing to the group and not privately to me. You need to join the new history site. Go here https://ch.ecirhorse.org/ Scroll down to the green Membership Request button, fill out the PROFILE info, and you will be approved fairly quickly since you are an existing ECIR groups.io member. Once you have requested membership, you will receive two emails. Look for them in your spam folder. Once approved, enroll your equine’s Basic Information and bookmark the page so you can find it more easily. Add additional info as you can. Next go to this hyper link >>>>> Guidance for use of the new site is in the main forum Wiki. To learn how to load info about your hay and a copy of the document see the link on SECTIONS. You want the Forage Section. This is a good place to start for general info: https://ecir.groups.io/g/main/wiki/33272 If you truly want "just" a read on ESC and starch, post those down and dirty numbers in a post here. Please remember NIR tests will not be reliable. You need a wet chem for accurate carb results. If you need further help, you will be asked to load your test results so eventually addressing a new CH will be in everybody's long-term best interest. Thanks for your understanding, Lynn. -- Nancy C in NH ECIR Moderator 2003 ECIR Group Inc. I think I've discovered an error with my log-in(s). My user name for the io group list is moll910@.... I believe I changed my user name for the ecirhorse group list to 910moll@... (another email I use). So now when I try to access the ecirhorse group from anywhere but an original link I opened with the new gmail address, it says my password is incorrect. I'm worried that as I am updating current issues with Inky that I don't know where the data is going. I did update his add equine to the new site and uploaded labs, a clinical summary from a vet eval and new xrays. I updated my signature. But, I cannot log in to the new site.
