Laminox and Equioxx

Hi, I have a question around giving Equioxx while on Laminox. Olaf is currently getting 1/2 scoop of Laminox and 12.5 grams of Alcar per day. Is it ok to give Olaf 1/2 tablet of Equioxx the day before and the day of trimming? It would help him and the trimmer so much if he could take it only to get trimmed. His front feet are so sensitive, especially with rasping. Also I am having his ACTH and insulin pulled next month and do I request the baseline ACTH? He had a baseline ACTH during the rise so now I want to recheck and see what it is outside of the rise. I’ve only see the baseline ACTH referenced here. Thank you! |

Hi Cecile, I'll leave the Laminoxx/Equioxx question to others but as far as the bloodwork - as he's already positive for PPID and on Prascend you only need baseline ACTH to see if the current dose is enough for him.

Yes, you can do that. It may not help though. How is he to pick up his feet and pick them out.

Thank you. He is tender footed on his right front even picking out. But it really seems to be the rasping that bothers him.

Cecile, would your trimmer use a grinder? Often more sensitive horses prefer it because there’s less “tearing” of the laminae.
