LaminOx and PQ+DC
Hello,
How long should I be supplementing LaminOx and PQ+DC? Atticus has been getting both since March, after his founder, and Gunner since June, when his insulin test came back elevated. Is this something I can stop for either or both of them? Continue indefinitely? Add as "insurance" certain times of year? Thank you! -- Ed P in TX 2022 Atticus's Case History Atticus's album Gunner's Case History Gunner's album |

The PQ is for pain with acute laminitis. You shouldn't need it long term if trim is correct and insulin is controlled. It's not harmful ; just not necessary. LaminOx is designed to counteract the effects of high insulin on the laminae. If he is comfortable without it, you don't absolutely need it, but we do know even horses that are not obviously laminitic have smoldering damage when insulin is not controlled. Neither one can prevent laminitis.

Great! Thank you! I'll discontinue PQ but keep LaminOx for right now to help them with potentially fluctuating insulin levels until they have consistently low insulin over several tests. They also both get a heaping tbsp of Jiaogulan 20 minutes before each meal (twice a day). Is this a good plan?
