Psyllium husk

Ronelle

Where do people buy psyllium husk for their horse?  Is the powdered form for humans OK?   That's all I've been able to find.  I do have Sand Rid, but it doesn't list psyllium husk as an ingredient.

Many of the human brands are mostly sugar. This is pure psyllium husk fiber https://www.uckele.com/psyllium-husk-fiber-5lbs.html .

Hi Ronelle
Here, I buy  psyllium husks from the health food section of the supermarket. No additives. Don’t get psyllium husk powder—it blows everywhere and congeals like concrete on feed buckets. Found that one out the hard way.

Hi Ronelle

I go through a lot right now. There used to be excellent prices on large quantities -- bulk -- of powdered psyllium husk but not so much any more.

Anyway, I'm feeding two  cups per day for FFWS to my IR TWH. Much discussion on Horsekeeping. I do use the powder with plenty of water. He loves it. Reliably chows it right down. Use the same for QH for sand clearing. He also chow it down.

Delivery is expensive but it gets here in two days.

Speaking of psyllium husk, it should be fed WET, not dry like some products recommend. It looks disgusting but the horses don't mind.

I can buy it loose by the kilo from my fodder shop.
I find adding psyllium to a really sloppy feed of beet pulp encourages them to eat it too :-)
