Stacey & Baron - May Bloodwork Uploaded

Baron

Good morning

I have received Baron’s bloodwork and uploaded.

He is currently at 14.1 hh and 1065 according to weight tape.

I would estimate his body score at 5.5 – 6 currently.

His feet were trimmed on Sept 6th following the guidelines (3rd such trim)

The new growth laminae is tight and is showing about 1/3 of the trimmed material.

I will get hoof pics soon.

Thank you

Hi Stacey,

Can you please update your signature to include your name as well as Baron's and add the links to your case history and photos:
https://ecir.groups.io/g/CaseHistory/album?id=278023

To do that:

1) Go to this link to amend your auto-signature: https://ecir.groups.io/g/main/editsub

2) Look at the bottom of that page for the window where your signature is and update it to:
Stacey and Baron
Terrace BC 2022

3) If needed add spaces after the links to make them live.

4) IMPORTANT: Scroll to the bottom and hit SAVE!

All posts that you write or reply to, using either the web or your email software, will then have your signature automatically added at the end.

Your case history lists Baron as being 14.3, not 14.1 and you mentioned in an earlier message he was 14.2 - which of those is correct?  Regardless he's at least 100lbs overweight (and possibly more) and based on bloodwork most definitely IR.  As he needs to lose weight he should be eating 1.5% of current weight or 2% of ideal weight - whichever is greater.  That would be 19lbs a day total (including hay and concentrates). If he doesn't lose weight you would need to decrease that amount but not go below the 1.5% number.

Are you actually weighing the hay he's eating now?  Given the NIR test results that hay should be soaked at least 30 minutes in hot water or 1 hour in cold water before being fed.  Is he eating anything other than the hay at this time?

Please see https://ecir.groups.io/g/main/message/282443 for information on renaming the photos in your album.

Baron

Thank you.
He is approx 14.1/14.2 hh.
He has been on restricted diet of 15 lbs hay per day. Soaked.
I would like to see him at 1000 lbs and go from there.
The missing piece has been exercise - which I’m able to start on now.
His hay has all been sent to the recommended lab (by your admin member) and should be in this week.
