Standlee Alfalfa/Timothy Cubes

Patty Franklin

Does anyone know the "dietary starch" and "sugar" content of Standlee's alfalfa and timothy cubes? I was under the impression it is low sugar and low starch. Now I'm not sure as the company does not show this info on their website for this product. I'm using it as the carrier for my mare's supplements. After 3 weeks of no supplements because nothing worked, this finally is. I use 5-6 oz, twice a day.

Any info will be helpful. Thank you for all you do!

Helen,in the files in  the feed analysis folder  there are some samples. There is one that I did last year of the Standlee cubes. I think the description says so but I tested them after soaking and draining.

This is the email I received from Standlee on 8/24/2017, not a guaranteed analysis, see explanation below:

As per our conversation, here is the nutritional analysis for the Alfalfa and Alfalfa/Timothy Cubes.  We do not test each batch as it is made, we test our fields, we are required by law to guarantee protein, fat, fiber and moisture, we are not required to guarantee non-structured carbs (WSC & Starch).  We can provide you with a 5-year average of what the mineral levels are of the Alfalfa and Alfalfa/Timothy Cubes.  All values are based on “As Fed Basis”.  The estimated levels of the Standlee Alfalfa and Alfalfa/Timothy Cubes are as follows:

            Values                                     Alfalfa              Alfalfa/Timothy

            Protein %                                16.00               12.00

            NSC %                                    9.00                 10.00

            Calcium %                              1.30                 1.00

            Phosphorus %                        0.20                 0.30

            Potassium %                           1.90                 1.90

            Iron (ppm)                               200.00             150.00

            Copper (ppm)                         9.00                 9.00

            Zinc (ppm)                              21.00               20.00

            Manganese (ppm)                  41.00               38.00

            Digestable Energy(Mcal/lb)    0.96                 0.90

Im wondering if anyone has had these cubes balanced for their horses diet. ?? (ie: what do I need to supplement to make them a balanced diet).
Knight loves them, and I am soaking and draining due to his dental issues. Thanks.

Hi Susan,

In our Files, under Analyses....there is an analysis of this product, submitted by one of our members. It's under Standlee Products.
It's 2016, so if the company has made any changes, they won't be reflected there. And I'm guessing it's not a guaranteed analysis for every bag,the way ODTBC  analysis is.
Have you asked the company about this?

Hi Lorna, Yes, I know the analysis is there for the cubes. Im wondering if anyone has balanced the horses diet using these cubes as their only feed.
