Stevia

I couldn't find any recent posts about Stevia. Is it still an okay "flavoring" to encourage a horse to eat?
I used to soak a cup of alfalfa pellets with his 1 lb TCTBCs but since I stopped the alfalfa, he's not so interested in the soaked cubes. -- Lasell (luh-SELL) ~ Virginia USA ~ September 2022 Fairlane Rusty https://ecir.groups.io/g/CaseHistory/files/Fairlane%20Rusty%20Case%20History Sam - likely IR, Case History to come |

Stevia is safe but it's not really a flavoring. Try making alfalfa tea by soaking pellets in a large jar and just using the fluid, or sprinkle a tablespoon of wheat germ over the cubes.

The alfalfa tea seems to work, thank you. I soaked a 60cc scoop of pellets in water then strained. I'm trying to make sense of using the tea from alfalfa pellets - how the tea is okay (with some pellet residue despite straining) but soaking the same amount of pellets and adding is not okay. Any sugar would come through in the tea, yes? The starch - is that in the pulp residue and is that what we're wanting to minimize as much as possible? Or something else?
My motivation is to understand as well as simplify any water-involving processes requiring rinsing of utensils during these colder months, without adding another product (wheat germ) if possible. I'm still dealing with overwhelm as I make changes, help Rusty adjust to changes, and develop new routines. Sugar doesn't seem to be the issue with alfalfa. It may be starch (which does not soak out) or protein (does not soak out either) or ?? but I've never heard of a problem with alfalfa tea.
